Beyond Human: Posthumanism in Art & Design
This project delves into the evolving relationship between humanism and posthumanism, tracing their impact on art, technology, and society. Inspired by posthumanist thinkers like James Bridle and Donna J. Haraway, it argues for an integrated approach recognizing the intelligence in all forms of life. The project explores potential collaborations between humans, nature, robots, and AI, emphasizing the importance of human imperfections in creative processes. It features innovative art pieces, including "Trauma Sconce," a diptych wall light with custom-made glass bulbs, and "Mycelium Meshamorphosis," a coffee table inspired by mycelium’s microscopic structure, blending natural textures with 3D modeling. The "Fracturaform Vase," made from eco-resin, combines bronze and sand elements, while the "Hybrid Reflection Mirror" intertwines raw industrial materials with reflective surfaces, symbolizing the cyclical nature of time and existence. The art blurs the lines between natural and synthetic, functional and aesthetic, reflecting how posthumanist principles guide this work and calling on artists to explore new relationships between nature, technology, and human identity.
