Trauma Series
The inspiration for this piece came from my feelings of helplessness related to the climate emergency. Ecological grief is something scientists experience when for example studying the bleaching coral of the great barrier reef, but it is something I also experienced when attempting to start this project, because of the feeling that there is nothing I can do to help stop climate change. This piece uses those feelings of helplessness as a springboard for action which resulted in the creation of this work. This lighting object expresses the physical symptoms of trauma and depression, through the representation of different parts of the body merging with machine-like technical elements to create a unique and immersive experience for the inhabitants of a space. The project is intended to bring awareness to the issue of trauma and depression and to create a space where people can reflect on their own experiences. Additionally, the project aims to use design and art as a means of exploring and expressing the physical symptoms of trauma and depression, providing a way for people to better understand and cope with these disorders.
This project was made possible through the SGS grant supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic (MŠMT ČR), and The Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague (UMPRUM).
